Central Building Les Terrasses de la Chaudiere 1 Promenade du Portage Hull, Quebec From: Ave Maria Centre of Peace Sherwood Industrial Mall 333 Evans Avenue Toronto, Ontario M8Z 1K2 Re: Application 199812524 Secretary General: We are writing in support of the application for a broadcast licence by Mr. Jan Pachul, 204 Main St., Toronto, Ontario. The Ave Maria Centre of Peace is a federally-registered, charitable organization that produces and distributes a variety of religious and spiritual programs. This material appeals to a wide range of viewers, crossing a broad spectrum of age, race, creed, and ethnic peoples. We are looking for an outlet in which to broadcast our material but have not had much success in the present television environment. Mr. Jan Pachul's Star Ray TV provides the only real hope for inclusion in which our programs can to be aired. We feel that by giving approval to this application, the C.R.T.C. would send a signal to small, independant Canadian producers that it encourages them in their work, and that in Canada you do not need to have access to enormous sums of money in order to "buy" airtime, as is now often the case. Mr. Pachul's network seems to accomplish the ideal of what a public broadcaster should provide: wide access by a broad range of community groups at free or modest cost. We salute him for this and sincerely hope that you approve his application because it will provide a real service to the local community that is currently not being provided. Yours truly, Henry Kovacic Dr. Kenneth J. Kucher Margaret Sinicrope President Vice-President Secretary cc. Mr. Jan Pachul, S.R.T.V. *** end of document *** |
